My employer Mr. YouTube once told me that if I want to make it in this game, I have to value quantity over quality, pander to the algorithm, and abuse the meta by churning out topical, trendy videos.
Turns out, it knew what it was talking about because as soon as I tried, it worked!

But then I realized that I might not actually be a very good YouTuber ー when I try to play by the rules, I quickly find that I don't have the heart for it.

I do, however, enjoy talking about what interests me, like learning Japanese, birds, and even bees. I hope to tell more fables of the various side-quests I've embarked on, and share the insights I've gathered along the way, without having to let them wait behind sponsored or algorithm-friendly videos that keep the channel financially sustainable.
